Wildcats and Crimsons Lose First Games by Close Scores
Hard-Fought Contest at Cincinnati Goes to Queen City Team, 13 to 11
CINCINNATI, Ohio, Jan. 17 -- A madly enthusiastic crowd of rooters saw the University of Kentucky Wildcats go down to defeat here tonight, the University of Cincinnati winning a well-played basketball contest, 13 to 11. Both teams were on their toes every minutes, and played a fast and aggressive game.
The superior passing of Cincinnati was the feature of the contest. The locals pushed the oval to all corners of the floor with lightening speed.
Blakey, Kentucky right forward, was the star performer for the visitors, lessening the hooped net for eight of his team's eleven points. Smith, Kentucky guard, playing his first college game, did good work.
Coons, Mumaw and Brown were the main attraction for the locals.
