Georgetown
Simply "Cleaned Up" With State College by Score of 22 to 10
The Georgetown College basket ball team defeated the State College team in a hard fought game Saturday afternoon. The score was 22 to 10. A large crowd was in attendance.
The game was a hotly contested one from start to finish, but State's team was clearly outclassed by the Scott county aggregation, who put up one of the best exhibitions of basket ball ever seen in this city.
The State College organization presented some good individual playing, St. Johns, Wurtele and Guyn making several fine plays. Lack of team work was very evident at times however. The failure to cover their opponents on the part of State College was the cause of several goals being made by Georgetown without interference. State's team was also seriously handicapped by having to play under different rules from those they have been accustomed to, and this caused the calling of many fouls by Klein, the Georgetown official, while assisted materially in piling up that team's score.
The game never lagged from start to finish however, and the ball was in play every minute of the time. The many exciting climaxes kept the large crowd on the tiptoe of expectancy throughout the game.
Parrigin the star player for Georgetown made six goals and four foul goals. Browning made two goals and Weddle one goal.
On State's side Coons threw two goals, St. Johns one goal and Wurtele three foul goals.
